 STEVE KNOX
Steve Knox, CPA, is the Chair of the Alva Hospital Authority Board of Trustees. He was born in Alva and graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1970. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University. He has been a certified Public Accountant in Alva for the past 24 years with his own business, bearing his name which is located on the square. He is a member of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants, a past president of the Alva Rotary Club, and a member of the First Christian Church.
He enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, white-water rafting and hiking.
 JASON GAISFORD
Jason Gaisford is a Primerica Financial consultant. He has been with Primerica Financial Services for 12 years. He has been a member of the Alva Hospital Authority Board of Trustees since the fall of 2005. Mr. Gaisford was born in Alva, Oklahoma and graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Jason is a member of the Alva Rotary Club where he is the 2007 Past President. He also serves on the Alva Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Jason and his family are members of the First Christian Church where Jason serves as an Elder.
Jason and his wife, Melanie, have been married 14 years. They have four boys, Cameron, Carson, Cambell, and Coleman. Jason enjoys sports activities. His hobbies also include: golfing and farming.
 KIRT BIERIG
Dr. Kirt Bierig, D.O., has a private practice at the Professional Building in Alva. Dr. Bierig did his undergraduate work at Phillips University. He attended Medical School at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and did his post doctorate residency at the Tulsa Regional Medical Center. He specializes in Family Practice and has served in Private Practice for 28 years. Dr. Bierig began receiving privileges at Share Medical Center in 1980.
Dr. Bierig and his wife, Cynthia, have five children. Both he and his wife are members of the Hopeton Wesleyan Church.
 DR. TROY SMITH
Dr. Troy Smith is an Optometrist in private practice at the Alva Vision Clinic. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and O.D. Degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis Tennessee. Dr. Smith is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians serving as Board member for several terms and president in 2000-2001. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Heart of America Contact Lens Society for six years and is a member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Smith is a member of the First United Methodist Church. He served on the FUMC Board and Financial Committee. He teaches Sunday school class at FUMC. He is a past President and Secretary of the Alva Kiwanis and Past President of the Alva Chamber of Commerce. Her served on the Executive Committee and is a past President of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation for more than twenty years. He also serves as Scholarship Drive Chairman for NWOSU with his wife, Elizabeth (Deewall) Smith.
He and his wife have three children, Tiffany, Trey, and Tenille. Dr. Smith enjoys woodworking, doing yard work, and golfing.
 DARLENE SANDERSON
Darlene Sanderson has been employed by the Oklahoma State Department of Health since December of 1986 and is Administrative Programs Officer for Woods, Grant, and Major County Health Departments.
After graduating high school in Kansas, Darlene attended NWOSU and NW Vo-tech.
She has served the Alva community in the capacity of Chairperson for NWOSU Homecoming Button Committee, City of Alva Board of Adjustments, and Chamber of Commerce Executive Board. Most recently, Darlene has been handling Chairwoman responsibilities for the Woods County Coalition.
Darlene and husband Gary have one child and two grandchildren.
 Scott Brown
Scott Brown is the Alva City Council representative to the Alva Hospital Authority. A more in depth bio on Mr. Brown will be coming soon.
 Andrea Long
Andrea Long is an instructor at Northwest Technology Center in the Business & Information Technology program. She was a classroom teacher in the public school system for 9 years prior to NWTC.
In 1994, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from NWOSU in Alva.
Andrea currently serves on the State Department of CareerTech’s Advisory Committee. She is the division reporter/webmaster for the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technical Education (OkACTE) Business and Information Technology Education (BITE); she serves on CareerTech’s BITE division accreditation team as an evaluator; she is the chair of NWTC Professional Development Committee; and is an active member of NWTC Marketing Committee. Andrea contributes to her professional organizations by presenting at state and national workshops and conferences.
She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Business Professionals of America (BPA), Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), OkACTE, and the National Business Education Association.
Andrea is the sponsor of NWTC BPA. She has served both as a building representative and as a classroom mom for the Alva Parent Teacher Organization . She is also a reading mentor through the Alva Elementary Reading Mentor program.
Andrea and husband Brandon have one son, Tevin. She enjoys following her son’s activities as well as digital scrapbooking. |  |
