After the first of the year, Share Medical Center will finally begin utilizing the new building that has been under construction for the better part of the last two years. With things continuing to come together, there is much anticipation for that first day and the first patients who share a brand new experience with the employees at the hospital.
One of the ongoing problems and one of the main reasons for this construction project has been the overcrowding of the hospital while offering specialty physicians clinics for area patients. Share currently provides eight different specialty clinics including cardiology, cataract surgery, ear/nose/throat, general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, urology, and women’s health. The new space at the hospital will have a dedicated area for specialty clinics, that will not only relieve the overcrowding, but it will enable more frequent trips to Alva from our existing specialists as well as opportunity for new specialists to bring their clinics to Share.
In all, there will be six exam rooms dedicated for our specialty physicians as well as a work station for their staff, all located away from a new, comfortable registration and waiting area. “This will be quite a change for us at the hospital,” remarked Share Medical Center CEO, Barbara Oestmann, “but we are all excited about the opportunities we’ll have to expand services once we get into the new building.”
With the objective of increasing existing specialty services and adding new services, the hospital is anticipating some challenges coordinating this increased activity. Damon Moorman, PTA has taken on that responsibility in addition to his patient care duties |
